French "cartoon" tapestry, late 18th century. These "cartoon" tapestries were actually paintings - oil on linen or paper - to act as a guide for the weavers to carry out/mirror their tapestries, often meaning that tapestries woven from these cartoons were a mirror image of the cartoon. Linen is full of character [pictured], colours remain vibrant, comes with mounting hardware pictured.
